Come and hear Dr Sue Black OBE, author of 'Saving Bletchley Park', champion for women in computing and passionate about getting everyone excited about the opportunities that technology offers.

Dr Black is a digital skills expert, social entrepreneur, international keynote speaker with over 20 years experience in technology. She is a Government advisor, Professor of Computer Science and Technology Evangelist in the Department of Computer Science at Durham University AND a fomer guest on Desert Island Discs!

She led the campaign to save Bletchley Park, home of the WW2 codebreakers and her first book Saving Bletchley Park details the social media campaign she led to save Bletchley Park from 2008-2011. Dr Black founded the #techmums social enterprise in 2013 and the pioneering TechUPWomen retraining underserved women into tech careers in 2019. 

Her remarkable career had an unconventional start. She left home and school at 16, married at 20 and had 3 children by the age of 23. A single parent at 25 she went to university, gained a degree in computing then a PhD in software engineering. Sue now has 4 children and 5 grandchildren.Full details on our speaker can be found here 

In addition to the lecture, we will be 'formally' opening the Habs Girls STEM centre, made possible by the generous donation from Dr Luena Hatcher OH 1944.
