We are delighted to report that this second ever giving day was even more successful than last year’s.

On 7-8 March, more than 600 parents, Old Haberdashers, Governors, staff and friends of the schools gave a total of £195,452 to the Bursary Fund and other Habs priorities. That is an increase in giving of nearly 45% over last year, from a similar number of donors. Of these, 258 of you made your first ever gift to Habs.

Watch this video, which includes joyful scenes from the day and a personal word of thanks from two members of the Habs community. They demonstrate why the day matters better than we ever could.

It was rather chilly that day at Elstree. That did not stop an incredible 1,529 members of the Habs community from turning out to show their support by participating in several Giving Day ‘dashes’ around campus, most of them wearing silly ‘Habs Hats & Headgear’. That is 10 times the turnout for a typical HabsDash (a 3.5km run around the school campus, which takes place every Tuesday lunchtime)

In the morning, nearly 300 parents joined 660 of our youngest students and their teachers for a special ‘MiniDash’ and ‘TinyDash’. The main GivingDash followed at lunchtime, with 589 Senior School students and staff running through sleet and snow to unlock thousands of pounds in extra challenge funds pledged by generous donors. This will fund means-tested travel bursaries, an initiative championed by students themselves.

Seeing so many members of the wider Habs family on campus was a heart-warming sight – particularly important on such a terrifically cold day! When we talk about ‘Community’ as a Habs value, all we need do is point to images from that wonderful day. Thanks again for making the second Habs Giving Day such a success.
