On the afternoon of Monday 23 May, the family, friends, former colleagues and students of Mrs Sheila Wiltshire (Headmistress of Haberdashers’ Girls’ School from 1974-1991) gathered in the Prevett Hall for a special service of celebration of her life, hosted by current Headmistress Mrs Rose Hardy. Having been welcomed by the Reverend James Power, Master of the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, the congregation were then addressed by Mrs Wiltshire’s son Roger who spoke fondly and with great humour about his mother and Mrs Maxine West (Deputy Head from 1981-1988) who reflected on Mrs Wiltshire’s transformational role at Haberdashers.

The St Catherine Singers provided a lovely anthem and a sung blessing, before all joined in with a rousing rendition of the School’s song, The Carmen, to close the service.

After the service the School archivist Judith Curati (OH 1979) took the Wiltshire family to see their old home, the Headmistress' house.

This event was a wonderful occasion and a fitting tribute to the life of someone truly dedicated to Haberdashers and its students.
